I'm thinking you pronounce this wonderful little Hawaiian instrument like this:
yoo-cah-LAY-lee
Okay, so I'm guilty as well, but it's hard for me to pronounce it the correct Hawaiian way when everyone says it totally different!! Here's the correct Hawaiian pronunciation:
oo-coo-LAY-lay
I've made it my mission to educate kids (when I visit their classrooms) about the correct way to say ukulele, and with my third book, Ukuleles Undercover, releasing in a few months, I figure it's time to spread the word!
