Nose In A Book???

Look At My Newest Avid Reader!

Some of my reviewers have been blogging and giving away a copy of Ukuleles Undercover to one lucky commenter.

This photo is from the grandmother who won the copy for her granddaughter. It looks like she was into the book from the very start!

I love giving away copies of by books! Do you know a school librarian, teacher or principal who would like to have me visit and receive copies of The Hawaiian Island Detective Club for their library?

Reading and Writing is my main focus when talking with kids. I also encourage them to pursue their dreams, as it was my dream as a ten-year-old to write a mystery book--Took a few years, but I got there!

And I don't come empty handed either. I always have something for the kids to take home and something for them to do during my visit. Kids ask the most amazing questions, so I always have time for questions. The final thing I do is make sure that I sign all the books the parents ordered, and give a copy of each book to the library. I've already been asked to visit the new fourth graders at a couple schools I visited last year!

Contact me and/or pass along my information to your local school librarian, teacher or principal. I'd love to visit!

Aloha, and Mahalo for visiting!

I Didn't Win, But . . .

I was so honored
to be a Finalist!

This was the first year for The Cascade Writing Competition, and I was honored to have participated with so many wonderful writers. Pineapples in Peril was the book honored.

I didn't win in my category, but lost to an award-winning author, Jill Williamson. It was wonderful to be alongside her as a finalist.

The Oregon Christian Writers' Conference was wonderful and I had a great time connecting and re-connecting with fellow writers and friends.

Looky! Looky!

My New Flip-Flop Signs--
A Birthday Present!

I am so excited about these adorable signs (which are in my office!)

My son, his girlfriend and her sister gave them to me for my birthday--aren't they fun??

We were at the coast in Seaside, Oregon when I spotted them in a little shop. They are hand painted and super cute--I fell in love with them. The three of them went back later and bought them for me.

The funniest thing is--I have a pair of flip-flops that match the blue with white poka-dot ones! (See them below!)

I hope you enjoy my new treasures as much as I do!

Don't Forget Sam!

Don't you think Sam keeps Leilani and Maile grounded when they're trying to solve a mystery? Hmmm . . . maybe not since sometimes he teams up with Kimo and all his crazy antics. Enjoy the interview!

Hey, Sam, what was the best part of the music school mystery?

Having Brandon around. He loves cars just like me. Leilani and Maile are cool, except when they get all goofy and annoying.
What about Kimo?

Kimo’s pretty cool. I’m hoping he’ll become an official member ’cause he’s funny, smart and great at video games.
Were video games an important part of solving the Music School mystery?

Naw, but I just love playing them and Kimo’s way good for a 10-year-old.
Were there any scary moments while solving this mystery?

(Sam chomps on some dried mango) Seeing Leilani with those huge bumps all over her face. (He bellows) Oh, sorry . . . I totally liked riding bikes into town and spying on Mr. Lee, especially when we almost got caught—I kinda freaked . . . oh, but don’t tell Maile and Leilani. They’ll think I’m a wimp for sure.
Okay, I won’t say a word. So, I hear you met Chad Rivers, Carly’s brother.

Yup. He works in construction for my dad sometimes. Chad is kinda scary just like Carly. Poor Leilani always seems to get into it with Carly and this time she had to face Chad too.
Yeah, scary for sure! Thanks for visiting, Sam.

Would you like to see some other interviews in the future? Maybe Mrs. Wong or Kainoa or even Carly Rivers?? Let me know!
