X is For X-Ray

In Pineapples in Peril, Leilani has to have an X-Ray to determine if her arm was broken. That part wasn't fun, but the worst was to come! Hmmm, once you've read the book you'll know what I'm talking about.

Wouldn't it be fun if we could see some things with X-Ray eyes? Well, Leilani, Maile, Sam and yes—even Kimo—solve three crimes even though they didn’t have X-Ray vision to see through all the misleading clues, lies and evidence that didn’t make sense.

I hope you read and enjoy all three books in the series to see how clever these amazing young detectives can be--even without X-Ray vision!

I hope to see you again next Thursday as I continue through the alphabet, giving you little snippets of words from Pineapples in Peril, Menehunes Missing and Ukuleles Undercover (Books 1, 2 and 3 of The Hawaiian Island Detective Club.) It’s the ABCs OF THE HIDC!

Aloha, and Mahalo for visiting!

W is for Whodunnit?? . . .

chanpipat/FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Of course! The entire goal of the teen detectives is to discover Whodunnit!

I hope you (or the kids in your life) will enjoy the journey with Leilani, Maile and Sam as they figure out the mystery happening in the pineapple fields in Pineapples in Peril, or why the Menehune statues are disappearing in Menehunes Missing, or who is threatening the music school (and why) in Ukuleles Undercover. Maybe you (or the kids in your life) can use your own detective prowess to figure out Whodunnit before the characters do!

V is for Vandalism . . .

Wikimedia Commons

Vandalism at the Tong Plantation is what first triggers The Hawaiian Island Detective Club into action. Leilani, Maile and Sam are determined to find out who’s destroying the pineapples and why.

Then there's what happens at the music school in Ukuleles Undercover--more Vandalism!

Along the way in both books, the young detectives discover clues and plan a stakeout, but become totally confused at the evidence—why are things pointing to one person as the culprit, and then to another? Will they ever figure it out? Ahhh, yes . . . you can rest assured that the amazing teen detectives will find Victory!

There’s one other V word I’d love for you to keep in mind—Visit!! I hope you’ll all have a chance to visit all three books in The Hawaiian Island Detective Club series. I promise--you'll love the ride!

U is for Undercover . . .

Teeratas/FreeDigitalPhotos.net

What fun to go Undercover! At least that’s what Leilani thinks. But sneaking around, spying and planning a stakeout brings on many problems she never imagined.

Go ahead and laugh as you read about the kids’ predicaments—and how they get out of them and eventually solve the mystery.

Leilani is not too thrilled about her Undercover mission in Ukuleles Undercover. Yup, she has to attend Kimo's Ukulele class to find out who's threatening the music school. Oh my! Isn't she going to have fun!?!

When you read any of the books from the Hawaiian Island Detective Club Series, you’ll discover the unique chapter headings. Umi means “ten” in Hawaiian. Each chapter in the teens becomes “ten plus one,” “ten plus two,” etc. So, ten, eleven and twelve become: Umi, Umikumakahi and Umikumalua. Keep trying to pronounce those chapter headings! Just wait until you see the twenties!! Yikes!
