Birthdays???

Don't you just love
Kids' Birthday Parties??

I remember all the fun stuff I did for my kids--family parties with castle, cabbage patch kids and A-Team cakes (to mention a few!) Not store-bought, but I actually designed and baked them. Whew!! Can't imagine doing that today--How did I have the energy??

For my Fiftieth Surprise Party, my family did a "Hawaii Five-O"-themed party. What a fun surprise!

Do you have kids who still attend birthday parties? I always had a supply of books to give as gifts for all the parties my kids attended--books really do make fun, yet educational gifts for kids.

I hope you'll find some great books out there to give to kids, and I really hope you'll think about the three books in The Hawaiian Island Detective Club series as possible gifts!

Celebrate With Bunny Flip-Flops

Happy Easter!!

What a wonderful time of year! Just like spring brings us new birth of trees, plants and flowers, Easter brings us the reminder of our new birth in Jesus. Yes, he died, but he arose again and promises us new life and eternal life when we accept his free gift. Wow!! No one else can give a gift like that.

Enjoy your Easter Sunday with family as you celebrate God's amazing gift to us.

And . . . enjoy these flip-flops and more at this link:

How Does YOUR Garden Grow?

Some of My Yard and Green Space
Seen Through a Dewey Spider's Web

Ahhh . . . yes! Spring has sprung and all the trees and plants are budding. It's time for me to plant seeds or veggie starts so I can harvest this fall.

But what about the Hawaiian Islands?? They were formed by volcanoes--and there weren't any seeds in that hot lava for sure. So, how did vegetation show up?

Thanks To Birds!

Birds would carry seeds in their feathers and some stuck on their legs. They would also eat seeds, so when they made shishi (I’m sure you can figure out the meaning of this word!) the seeds grew. Grasses, trees, fruits and flowers thrived on the islands.

And how did the birds get way out there in the middle of nowhere? Strong winds are the probable cause. They blew birds off course. Winds also brought insects, butterflies and bees to the islands.

Floating logs and debris also could have brought seeds, geckos, and gecko eggs to the islands.

Combine this together and you have the lush tropical landscape of Hawaii.

Sands formed by volcanoes and ocean waves eroding away. Palm trees, mangos, papayas, and plumerias arriving with the birds. Makes me want to slip on my flip-flops and find a warm beach somewhere!

Wipe Out!!

Don't you just love birthdays?? One year my brother and his family gave me this cute birthday card.
My Card That Plays Wipe Out!

It's more than just a card, because it plays music! Of course, the song it plays just had to be Wipe Out! Every once in a while I open the card just to hear the music--and maybe get inspired???

Speaking of being inspired, what inspires you? We all seem to need a little push at times and, as an author, I seem to need it quite often!
