Trading In The Flip-Flops For . . .

Tennis Shoes??

Nope--not in my wardrobe!

Yup--in my newest WIP (that stands for "Work In Progress").

The manuscript my agent is submitting for me right now is aimed at grades 1-3. The series is entitled, Dak Savage, PI. Book one is Elevator Escapades.

The kids in this story live in an apartment building. In the summer they wear shorts, t-shirts and tennis shoes (no flip-flops). In the winter they wear jeans, hoodies or sweatshirts and--yup--tennis shoes.

These chapter books are much shorter than the ones in The Hawaiian Island Detective Club, with less complex mysteries. They are about 10 chapters long and are designed for those younger kids who are more advanced readers, yet not quite ready for a Middle Grade chapter book.

In future blogs I'll give you more information about these fun stories and crazy characters!

Mark That Page!

I always have several cute bookmarks hanging around so I'm ready to slip one into my Bible, a cookbook, my devotions book or the book I'm currently reading.

But none of my bookmarks thrill me as much as the ones I make to slip into my books that adults as well as kids and their parents buy. Everyone loves the little flip-flop on the end of the ribbon. I can't blame them--it's my favorite part too!

Hawaiian Island Detective Club Bookmarks!

The bookmarks have space on the back for kids to draw their favorite Hawaiian thing. I've seen everything from volcanoes and sharks to pineapples and ME as a Hula Dancer!!

Do you have a favorite bookmark? Do you have one of these flip-flop bookmarks for Pineapples in Peril, Menehunes Missing, or Ukuleles Undercover? If not, I hope you'll have one soon!

Go Green!

Hmmm . . . Am I talking about all the Evergreens in the Pacific Northwest??

Maybe the Oregon Ducks Football Team (can't wait for Fall so I can see my team play again!)

Or does it have to do with caring about our natural environment?

Nope, Nope and NOPE!! It's coming this Monday on March 17--

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

Ahhh . . . yes . . . that's it! Enjoy, and don't forget to wear green so you don't get pinched!

Slippers OR . . . Slippers?

All my readers already know how much I love flip-flops, which are called Slippers in Hawaii.

I recently bought a new pair of slippers--the kind to keep my feet warm when I'm lounging around the house. But these slippers are not the kind I'd wear in the winter, but in the warmer days of late spring, summer and early fall!

My "Slipper" Slippers!

Don't you LOVE them??? I can't wait until the weather turns a bit warmer so I can break in my newest flip-flops! Uhhh . . . slippers!

Stay tuned for some future blogs about some other new flip-flops I've added to my collection. Oh yes! Remember to send me a picture of your favorite pair of flip-flops. (E-mail address below!) I'd love to feature them in one of my blogs.
