Kilauea Eruption

I'm sure most of you have heard of the Kilauea Eruption on The Big Island of Hawaii. When I lived in the islands I was able to visit Hawaii and see Kilauea erupting. Mostly the eruptions aren't explosive (like our Mt. St. Helens in the Pacific NW), but the lava flows present dangers depending on their path.

This particular lava flow is threatening a remote area of the island and a town, Pahoa. The flow is making its way to Apa'a Road which is a main road to the area.

This is a website that posts the most recent news on the flow:

I am writing this blog on Tuesday, and the news at this time is that the flow has slowed and the threat to the town is not as intense as it was a week or so ago.

For those of you interested in even more information about the eruption, check out this link. Once there, you can also click on additional links for information.

Aloha, and Mahalo for visiting!
