Happy Anniversary in Hawaiian!
Today I'm doing a post to tell you all a little more about myself, and since today is actually my husband, Harrison's, and my 35th Wedding Anniversary, I thought I'd start with that.
On our wedding day, June 10, 1978, we had a "fruit" luau for our reception. A couple of my friends danced, and I performed a traditional hula that a bride dances for her new husband.
My books are set in Hawaii--can you tell I've always loved the islands??
Harrison and I have three amazing children, Ian, Ashley and Shane. Ashley is the only married one. She and her husband, Dave, have just given us our first grandchild on Sunday, June 9, 2013--a baby boy named Ewan David!
I grew up in Southern Oregon and graduated from Medford Senior High. After graduating from the University of Oregon with a degree in Recreation, I worked for Portland Parks and Recreation for 31 years. I had already started writing in 2001, but after retirement I was able to write full-time--yaaaay!
Pineapples in Peril is the first book in the Hawaiian Island Detective Club series, releasing in October 2012. Menehunes Missing released in February 2013 and book three, Ukuleles Undercover, releases this August.

Four years ago we finally moved out of Portland, Oregon to Washougal, Washington. Our home sits on a green space above the Columbia River. It's gorgeous in this part of the country, but it rains quite a bit to keep all this lush greenery.

What do I enjoy doing? I like to garden (on my deck in big planters since the deer eat everything!), walk and work-out with my son, swim when I can, quilt, visit and speak to schools, and perform with my church drama team.
This summer I hope to spend some days on this deck writing and enjoying the sunshine and cool breezes!
Here I am acting in a church sketch entitled: The Parable of the Nuggets.
And here's the quilt I made for my first grandbaby--Ewan! I spilled some blood during the hand quilting process, but I hadn't quilted in over 20 years!![]() |
