Kamalii Elementary in Kihei, Hawaii, on Maui |
I spoke to a group of 460 2nd through 5th graders at Kamalii Elementary School in Kihei, Hawaii on Maui.
You'd think it would have been a bit crazy, huh?? But, the kids were so great! And they asked amazing questions and were excited about reading and writing. Many informed me that they have already written a book!
I had to use a microphone to talk with this huge group of kids. As well as them asking me questions, I asked them some questions. And then I read chapter one of Pineapples in Peril.
Teacher, Kelley Farnham, was a wonderful hostess, and she did a super job of arranging for this huge group. Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of the two of us, but look at the beautiful setting for the school. The principal informed me that at one time (before a few homes were built), you could see the ocean from where I was taking the photo above.
I hope lots of kids are reading the book and planning on entering the contest to win Book Two, Menehunes Missing. Here's the link--there's still time to read Pineapples in Peril and enter, as the contest doesn't end until the release date of February 5, 2013:
Aloha, and Mahalo for visiting!
